8(a) Direct Sole Source

i3 is an SBA 8(a) certified small business with a valid designation through July 2028. The SBA 8(a) Business Development Program is a business assistance program that permits agencies to directly procure services and products from those small disadvantaged businesses (SDBs) that are certified under the SBA program.  The regulations governing the 8(a) BD program are located in Title 13 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Subpart A, and Section 124. (13 CFR § 124)

 

Features & Benefits:

  • No Competition Required: Federal agencies can award a contract directly to an 8(a) firm without having to go through a competitive bidding process, simplifying the procurement process for the government and the business.

  • Award Threshold: The maximum value for an 8(a) sole-source contract is $7 million for manufacturing contracts and $4.5 million for all other contracts. There is no threshold on the duration of the contract.

  • Simplified Procurement Process: The contracting officer works directly with the 8(a) firm, reducing the time and complexity associated with competitive procurements. This allows for quicker delivery of goods and services.  Sole source contracts can be awarded in as short as 5 days!

  • Direct Negotiation: Government agencies can negotiate directly with 8(a) firms to determine pricing and contract terms. This results in a best value deal for our government customers.

  • Small Business Credits: Federal agencies can receive small business participation credits with each 8(a) contract they award.
